Anjul Bhambhri is the Vice President of Big Data Products at IBM. She was previously the Director of IBM Optim application and data life cycle management tools. She is a seasoned professional with over twenty-two years in the database industry. Over this time, Anjul has held various engineering and management positions at IBM, Informix and Sybase. Prior to her assignment in tools, Anjul spearheaded the development of XML capabilities in IBM’s DB2 database server. She is a recipient of the YWCA of Silicon Valley’s 'Tribute to Women in Technology' award for 2009. Anjul holds a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Rhea Yaw Ching

Executive Director, Covela Foundation 

Rhea Yaw Ching is the Founder and Executive Director of Covela Foundation, a technology non-profit dedicated to the creation of solutions to pressing common social and economic needs in the Caribbean and Latin America (CALA). Through her consulting company, Covela Consulting, she also invests in and leads select high potential social innovation startups, providing them with an ecosystem of technical, business and mentorship support.

Rhea is a seasoned business and technology leader having spent more than 20 years in the CALA region in a variety of industries such as: telecommunications, ICT, manufacturing and distribution with several multinational corporations such as Coca-Cola, Kraft and 3M. Prior to launching Covela, she spent 10 years at Columbus International, one of the largest telecommunications companies in CALA, where as Corporate Vice President, Sales and Marketing, she stewarded the residential, business and wholesale divisions of the company through market expansion efforts, technology deployments and social commitment strategies.

She is a member of the The Open Data Institute and International Association of Innovation Professionals and she is a strong proponent of the use of open data and innovation, human-centered design and collaborative business models in the solution building.

She holds a Bsc Management Studies from the University of the West Indies, an MBA from Warwick Business School and Executive Certification in Social Entrepreneurship from Stanford University.

Rhea is part of the SRII Global Leadership Team as Lead for the Caribbean and Latin America. Her role will be to work with major development stakeholders in the region to identify and drive common strategies for driving the local digital economy as well provide a platform for sustainable capacity building initiatives in critical areas of development.

Ian Ellison-Taylor

Director for Open Web Platform (OWP) at Google

At Goolge, Ian Ellison Taylor is responsible for product and technology management for the Open Web Platform.

Before Google, Ian spent 20 years at Microsoft in various platform development roles and ultimately was General Manager for the "Client Platforms and Tools" organization.

Ian will lead the SRII focus group on "Innovating Open Web Platform".

Rich Friedrich

Director of Strategy & Innovation, HP Labs 

Rich Friedrich is the Director of the Strategy and Innovation Office in HP Labs and reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Research. Leading a global team, he is responsible for the strategy and portfolio management of HP’s central research organization, applying Open Innovation to amplify and accelerate research results, and technology transfer to effectively monetize these technologies.

Rich is an active participant in government-industry-university partnerships through such groups as the US National Academies Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable. He his on the board of advisors for four major universities including the University of Illinois and the University of California, San Diego, and is a co- inventor on fifteen patents.

Rich Friedrich is a graduate of Northwestern University.

Wolfgang Gentzsch

Strategic Consultant, HPC, Grid 

Dr. Wolfgang Gentzsch is a senior consultant for HPC, Grid and Cloud Computing and the General Chairman of the ISC Cloud Conference Series.Previously, he was an Advisor to the EU funded project DEISA, the Distributed European Initiative for Supercomputing Applications, and he directed the 3-year German Government funded $150 Mio D-Grid Initiative for developing a sustainable Grid infrastructure for research and industry in Germany. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the OGF Open Grid & Cloud Forum standards organization, and a member of the US President's Council of Advisors for Science and Technology, PCAST. He Founded the e-School Project which aimed at building and operating a professional interactive Web 2.0 computer simulation laboratory for K-20science and engineering education and edutainment.

Before, Wolfgang was a professor of computer science and mathematics at several universities in the US and in Germany, and held leading positions at the MCNC Grid and Data Center, Sun Microsystems, Gridware, Genias, the DLR German Aerospace Research Center, and the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics. Wolfgang studied mathematics and physics at the Technical Universities in Aachen and in Darmstadt, and got his PhD in numerical methods for partial differential equations.

Of India and the Confederation of Indian Industry. Kannan

Kannan Govindarajan

Director, Enterprise Services Strategy & Planning, HP 

Kannan's 16 year career in software and services has spanned multiple functions and businesses. In the first 10+ years of his career in R&D aside from shipping products for Oracle and HP focused on Java and web services middleware technologies. He was one of the architects of the team that created one of the earliest web services implementations, and represented HP in standards bodies such as UDDI. He was also instrumental in establishing a new research program in HP Labs for creating technology for automating business processes for services businesses. Subsequently, he was Chief Technologist of HP's IT Outsourcing services and implemented some of the ideas from his research. He was also one of the original members of SRII representing HP.

Kannan has spent the last 6+ years in Product Management/marketing/strategy roles where he ran the Application Operations Service Line in HP Outsourcing Services, and ran product marketing for HP’s data warehousing product. Most recently, as Director Strategy, he drove thought leadership for HP through the mega-trends project, business planning for Cloud applications and infrastructure services and helped shape the go-to-market model for cloud offerings in HP Enterprise services.

Kannan has a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Madras, a PhD in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Masters in Management of Technology from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Manish Gupta

Director of IBM Research-India, Chief Technologist for IBM India/South Asia 

Manish Gupta is the Director of IBM Research - India and Chief Technologist for IBM India/South Asia. He leads a team developing breakthrough technologies underlying innovation in Services, Software and Systems, and is leading the IBM Research activities across the world in the Mobile Web area.
Previously, he has held senior leadership positions at IBM Research - India, IBM India Systems and Technology Lab, and the T. J. Watson Research Center, where he led research on software for the IBM Blue Gene supercomputer. IBM was awarded the 2008 National Medal of Technology and Innovation for the invention of the Blue Gene supercomputer by US President Barack Obama in October 2009.

Manish received a B. Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Delhi in 1987 and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1992. He has co-authored over 70 papers, with more than 3000 citations in Google Scholar, in the areas of high performance compilers, parallel computing, and Java Virtual Machine optimizations, and has filed eighteen patents. Manish has received two Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards and the Gerstner Team Award for Client Excellence at IBM, and has been invited to give keynotes at several international conferences and workshops. He is an ACM Distinguished Scientist and a member of the IBM Academy of Technology.

Uday S. Karmarkar

Distinguished Professor and LA Times Chair of Technology and Strategy 

Uday S. Karmarkar is Distinguished Professor and LA Times Chair of Technology and Strategy, Director and founder of the UCLA Business and Information Technologies (BIT) global research project at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. His research interests include the information economy, operations strategy, and technology management in manufacturing, service and information industries. Professor Karmarkar has published over 95 research papers, book chapters and articles and has co-edited six research volumes. He has been the founding editor for two academic journals and has served on several editorial boards.

Dr. Karmarkar previously taught at the University of Chicago and the University of Rochester, where he held the Xerox Chair in Operations and was founder and Director of the Center for Manufacturing and Operations Management. He holds a B.Tech. from I.I.T. Bombay and a Ph.D. in Management Science from M.I.T. He was recognized as a Distinguished Alumnus of IIT-B in 1997 and received their Distinguished Service Award in 2003. He was elected an Honorary Fellow of IITB in 2008. He received the MSOM (Informs) Distinguished Service Award in 2003 and was elected a fellow of MSOM in 2014. He received an IBM Faculty Research award in 2004. He is on the Advisory Board of the IITB Heritage Foundation, and was on the Council for the Digital Strategy of Chile for the Ministry of the Economy, Chile. Professor Karmarkar has undertaken projects in business development, digital strategy, technology management, industrial marketing, organizational design, manufacturing and supply chain management with over 50 firms and public sector organizations in the US, Europe and Asia. Christos Nikolaou is a seasoned and proven leader of innovative or research projects and organizations:

- Led research group in IBM T.J. Watson Research Center (NY, USA), to introduce multiprocessor technology and load balancing in commercial transaction processing systems (CICS, MVS, IMS, DB2); cooperated with other research and development groups. Performance and availability were dramatically increased for flagship IBM systems ('80s and '90s). IBM market leadership position maintained, revenues increased significantly, profit margins remained stable. Was awarded IBM Outstanding Innovation Award (1993).

- As Rector (President) of the leading Research University in Greece (U. of Crete) ('99-'04), he opened the University to international cooperation (and was awarded the “Chevalier de l’Ordre de Palmes Academiques” by the French Republic, 2006), spearheaded a major campus construction effort, designed and led the effort for a federated academic digital library system for Greek Universities. Arijit Sengupta is the CEO of BeyondCore, the Chair of the Cloud Computing Chapter of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), the IAOP Ambassador for India, and a member of the Indian Cyber Security Advisory Group. BeyondCore won the Overall Most Innovative Cloud Provider award at the Up 2010 Cloud conference ahead of more than 150 firms. Ikhlaq Sidhu is the Founding Director and Chief Scientist of UC Berkeley's Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology. He teaches and advises projects in graduate, undergraduate, and professional programs. In 2009, he received the IEOR Emerging Area Professor Award. Babis Theodoulidis

Director of the Centre for Service Research at the University of Manchester 

Babis Theodoulidis is Director of the Centre for Service Research at the University of Manchester and holds the position of Associate Professor at Manchester Business School. He received a PhD degree in Computation from UMIST, an MSc in Computer Science from University of Glasgow and a Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from University of Patras, Greece. His teaching responsibilities are in the areas of information management and systems at the undergraduate, MSc and MBA levels. He has also taught executive-development seminars and carried out consultancy work on the subjects of information management, business and IT strategy, business process improvement and business intelligence.

Dr Theodoulidis held visiting positions at the School of Engineering, University of Surrey and Athens University of Economics and Business. Prior to joining Amazon as Technology Evangelist, he held several positions in UB matrix including Solutions Architect, Enterprise Teamlead and Software developer working on various IT services projects.

Katsutoshi Yada

Professor of Management Information Systems in the Faculty of Commerce, Kansai University 

Katsutoshi Yada is Professor of Management Information Systems in the Faculty of Commerce, Kansai University, Osaka, Japan. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Business Administration from Kobe University of Commerce, Hyogo, Japan, in 1994 and 2002, respectively. He was a visiting scholar of School of business at Columbia University from 2006 to 2007. He is currently chair of Program on "Data Mining and Service Science for Innovation",and the director of Data Mining Laboratory at Kansai University supported by MEXT.

His present research interests include data mining for service, and information strategy concerning data mining. His papers have appeared in several international journals, including Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, Soft Computing, Decision Support Systems and others. He had been a guest editor of special issues in Information Science. He received Distinguished Professor Award from Kansai University and many international and domestic awards from academic societies and conferences. He has been chairman and member of various program committee in many international data mining conferences and workshops, including TC chair of IEEE SMC, ICDM and others. He is a member of IEEE, AMA and AMS.
